For all of you wine nerds it’s probably old news that there are some really dynamic  wines coming out of the Czech Republic these days, specifically from the Moravian region. Moravia borders some of Austria’s great wine regions so it should come as no surprise that there is tremendous potential here. The climate is continental (which is great for grape growing), and much of the soil is ancient sea deposits (also great for grape growing). 

We are very excited to have two of the top Moravian producers on the shelf now. Winemaker Milan Nestarec is probably the poster boy for Czech wine and just a general rockstar in the natural wine movement. His Forks & Knives red has kind of turned into his flagship wine; it’s a blend of quite a few grapes (like Pinot Noir, Cab Franc, and Blaufrankisch) but made in a totally chuggable, chilled-red style. 

Dluhe Grefty is a family affair that is also focused on natural farming and winemaking. We currently have their Alba Rosales, which is Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc fermented on the skins for 3 weeks.
